A Letter from the Department Chair
Dr. J. Jalali

Welcome to the Youngstown State University Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering homepage. As a high-profile engineering department, we offer both the Bachelor of Engineering and Master of Science degrees in Electrical Engineering.  Our Electrical Engineering baccalaureate program is accredited by the EAC Accreditation Commission of ABET.

Our highly qualified and diverse faculty members offer their expertise gained through years of experience in both academic and industrial settings.  Students benefit from a professional yet friendly atmosphere with access to state-of-the-art laboratory and research facilities.

We offer superb service to both internal and external constituents with strong commitment and interest in their success.  We take pride in our close-knit multicultural student population and faculty which represent various parts of the world.  The department's diverse faculty team promotes cultural awareness as a valuable component of educational experience.

Undergraduate students pursuing a Bachelor of Engineering degree have a choice of any of the following three options:

     •  Traditional Electrical Engineering
     •  Computer/Digital
     •  Biomedical

Graduate students pursuing a Master of Science degree may choose one of the following degree tracks:

     •  Thesis
     •  Non-thesis coursework
     •  Management

We support co-op opportunities offered to students who are interested in engaging in engineering training outside the classroom in order to prepare them for competitive and dynamic careers in engineering practice.  Our department participates in joint research projects with local industries, contributing to their efforts to meet and exceed the growing needs of the technological world.
