Mission Statement
Over the past several years, the advancement of necessary technologies along with institutional change have affected Media & Academic Computing (M&AC) services. M&AC has been called upon to enhance services by providing leadership and direction for technologies including:
- Print management
- Active Directory
- Desktop domain infrastructure
- Desktop and Server Virtualization
- Updated Learning Management System (Blackboard 9)
- Enhanced email and related services (Office 365)
During the same time we have shared in the institutional changes that challenge service levels and quality including:
- Budget reductions
- Retirements
- Hiring restrictions
- Transfers of personnel and equipment
Unfortunately, at this time M&AC does not have dedicated staff positions nor the capacity to continue to provide videographer or photographer services to the YSU community. Requests for such services to M&AC cannot be fulfilled. Assistance training faculty self-recording, editing and incorporating video and photos into course materials for academic purposes will continue to be a service offered by the Instructional Technology Center (ITC at ext. 3244).
Going forward, M&AC will continue to provide new and traditional services including:
- Support for technology questions and concerns
- Assistance with on-site and remote desktop/mobile technology needs
- Preparation and maintenance of campus computer labs
- Design, maintenance and support for multimedia classrooms
- Delivery of mobile multimedia equipment
- Design and production of graphic, illustrations, web pages, and printed materials
- Infrastructure engineering services (e.g., print management, directories, virtualization, computing environment, desktop services, etc.)
- Delivery of critical business systems (e.g., Blackboard 9, Office 365, Windows/Mac software)
- Software licensing for students, faculty and staff
- Technology hardware repair including certified warranty services for several vendors
- Delivery of tools and services for online and distance learning
- Instruction for and assistance with classroom technologies
- Assistance editing and incorporating videos and photos for course materials
