My Time at YSU: Traveling abroad was the best experience I could ask for through Youngstown State University. In April of 2012 I was blessed to go on a mission trip with the nursing department to San Quinton, Mexico for 10 days. There we set up and managed a health clinic for an underprivileged community.  While developing clinical nursing competencies, I also gained unforgettable lessons about the importance of cultural differences in my patients.  In December of 2012 I traveled to the islands of Nassau and San Salvador in the Bahamas with Dr. Shaklee through the scholars program for an honors tropical ecology course. Then, in May of 2013, I spent a month traveling abroad in Italy with the History Department at Youngstown State. We traveled across the entire country visiting cities such as Forence, Rome, Vico Equense, Naples, Capri, Orvieto, Pompeii, Sorrento, Paestum, Amalfi, and Positano. I grew in unexplainable ways, experiencing the famous history, raw religious faith, and strong familial ties so evident throughout the country.
