Four Fast, Easy Ways to Register

Early registration will ensure your place in the course of your choice, and will help to avoid cancellation of courses.

By Mail

Complete and mail a registration form ( also available in the printed YSU Metro College catalog) with your MasterCard, VISA, or Discover card number, check, or money order (no cash please) made payable to Youngstown State University.

By Phone

Use your MasterCard, VISA, or Discover card to register by calling (330) 941-2465. Answering service available after 5:00 pm and on weekends.

When you call:

• Have your charge card information and registration information ready.
• Course number/title/time/day/cost.
• Last 4 digits of your Social Security number.

By Fax

Complete a registration form inserting your MasterCard, VISA, or Discover card number or attaching a company letter of authorization to bill or purchase order and FAX the above item(s) to (330) 965-5811. Our FAX registration line is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

In Person

Register at the YSU Metro College, Suite 200, in Southwoods Commons. Hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Southwoods Commons is located off Market Street in Boardman, just south of the Southern Park Mall. For directions and maps, click on the About the Metro College link.

*Registrations Limitations

Registrations cannot be accepted after the first class meeting for classes of six weeks or less, after the second class meeting for classes of seven weeks or more, or if the class is full.

Discounts - (multiple discounts do not apply)

Alumni Discounts

A 10% discount is available to members of the YSU Alumni Association and their spouse and dependents. Presentation of the YSU AA membership card is required at the time of registration. Only one discount option may be applied to an enrollment.

Early Bird Discount

Register for any class $99 or more, two weeks in advance of class and receive a $20 discount.

Team Discount - Save 10%

A 10% discount is available to companies and agencies that enroll three or more individuals in the same course or seminar - with payment made by one company check or purchase order reflecting the discounted prices. Only one discount option may be applied to an enrollment.

YSU Employees

For any YSU employee, download and print out an Employee Remission Form.

Organization/Company Billing

In order for our office to bill your organization, you must provide either a purchase order or a letter of authorization to bill with the full name of your company; the billing address; phone number; Tax ID number; and the names, addresses, and Social Security numbers of the person(s) registering.

Tax Deduction

You may be able to deduct the cost of educational expenses under Treasury Regulation 1.162.5. Please check the deductibility of courses with a tax professional.

Refunds

Registering does not automatically carry with it the right of refund or reduction of indebtedness in cases of failure or inability to attend class or in cases of withdrawal. The student assumes the risk of all changes in business or personal affairs. Any fees subject to refund are determined according to the following schedule:

In Full

YSU reserves the right to cancel a course should there be insufficient enrollment or for unforseen circumstances. A full refund will be mailed within thirty (30) days when a course is cancelled. If a student elects to withdraw, the following schedule applies:

Partial

• Programs with four or fewer meetings:
  • 48 hours before first meeting - full, less $20
  • Less than 48 hours before first meeting - 50%
  • First meeting or later - 0%

• Programs more than four meetings:
  • 24 hours before first meeting - full, less $20
  • Up to the second meeting - 50%
  • Second meeting or later - 0%

Continuing Education Unit (CEU)

The CEU is awarded for participating in designated courses. The CEU is defined as 10 contact hours (10 hours equals 1.0 CUE) of participation in a continuing education course. Participants must attend 80% of the course to earn the CEU.
