Students should prepare early for registration by appointment to make the most of their registration time. Students will receive an email notification for registration by appointment dates and times prior to each term's registration period.
Here are a few tasks students can complete prior to registration to make the process go smoothly:
- Check Your Status: There are various reasons a student could have a hold on his/her record preventing him/her from completing the registration. Log in the MyYSU portal and select "Registration." Select the term in which you wish to register. Any hold on your record is located under the "Registration Status" link. If a hold or hols on your account exist, please follow the instructions of the hold or contact the Registration Office (Meshel Hall) at 330-941-3178, for additional assistance. If the hold indicates that your academic standing is suspension, please contact your academic advisor for further information.
- Complete Academic Advisement: All students are urged to consult with advisors in their major area. Each department or college has a procedure for either assigning an advisor to a student or having the student select an advisor. Advisement is required for the following students: 1. Freshman (with fewer than 32 hours of credit); 2. Post-Secodary Enrollment Option/Early Admission Options Program students; 3. Any student not in good standing; 4. All former students returning to the University; and 6. Athletes. The responsibility for fulfilling all requirements rests ultimately upon the student; the advisors provide assistance in that process (per 2010-11 Undergraduate Bulletin). Students should also review Academic Advising's Policies and Procedures for additional information prior to registration.
- Review the Undergraduate Bulletin: The Bulletin provides course descriptions and major curriculum requirements to help students better target a course of study.
- Review the Schedule of Classes: View what classes are being offered each term to keep your academic progress toward graduation on track by using the online Schedule of Classes.
- Learn Where Registration Issues Are Resolved: Additional registration information can be found under the link, "Registration Instructions." Students may also visit the Registration Office (Meshel Hall) computer lab for personal registration assistant using the MyYSU portal or contact us for assistance at 330-941-3178.
- Make Financial Preparations: Visit the Office of Financial and Scholarships (Meshel Hall) and the Office of Student Accounts and University Receivalbes (Meshel Hall) for assistance and/or payment plans.
