The Choose Ohio First Scholarship Program at Youngstown State University
The Choose Ohio First Scholarship Program is part of the state’s strategic effort to significantly strengthen Ohio’s position in world markets such as aerospace, medicine, computer technology, and alternative energy.
To do so, the program provides scholarship dollars to state colleges and universities to fund academic programs and recruit students into STEM by offering scholarships. At YSU, scholarships are available for current and incoming students who attend full-time and choose to study in one of the following areas:
Computer Information Systems
Engineering (any field)
At Youngstown State University, Choose Ohio First money is used to support two programs:
Summer Math Bridge Program
STEM Scholarship Program
Summer Math Bridge Program: June 13th - July 8th 8:30 am to noon.
What is it? The summer math bridge program intends to bridge the gap between what students learn in algebra II and what they need to know to be successful in pre-calculus and calculus. The goal is to help students graduate from high school calculus-ready.
Who is eligible? The summer math bridge program is intended for current high school students who have completed at least algebra II and are interested in pursuing a STEM field in college.
