Tom Pittman graduated from YSU with a Master’s degree in English and teaches journalism and developmental writing.  

Pittman earned the Scripps-Howard “Service to the First Amendment” Award and was nominated for the Associated Press “Freedom of Information” Award. He’s also won YSU’s prestigious Robert L. Hare Award for poetry and as a graduate student Tom won the graduate-level scholarship at the 2006 YSU Quest forum for student scholarship. He is a member of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the Golden Key National Honor Society, and the YSU Alumni Association. He is a lifelong resident of Youngstown.
