Paul Sracic is Professor and Chair of the Department of Political Science and Rigelhaupt Pre-Law Center at Youngstown State University in Ohio. He is a former Fulbright Lecturer in Japan, teaching at The University of Tokyo and at Sophia University. In 2012, Dr. Sracic was part of the Japanese Prime Minister’s Office Visiting Experts Program. In December of 2013, he will be a Visiting Researcher at Gakushuin Women’s College in Japan.
Dr. Sracic holds a Ph.D. and an M.A. in Political Science from Rutgers University, and an A.B. in Political Science and Economics from Albright College.
Dr. Sracic’s research interests are diverse and include U.S. Politics, Constitutional Law, as well as U.S. – Japan relations. In 2008, his book, San Antonio v. Rodriguez and the Pursuit of Equal Education, was part of a series that was given the Scribes Award for legal scholarship at the annual meeting of the American Bar Association. Dr. Sracic’s next book, Ohio Government and Politics (co-authored with Dr. William Binning) is scheduled to be published by Congressional Quarterly Press in 2014.
Dr. Sracic often serves as a political commentator for the U.S. media. He is a frequent guest on international, national, and regional television and radio shows. Dr. Sracic has been interviewed by CNN, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Reuters, and The Japan Times, and Le Monde. His writings have appeared in The Washington Post, USA Today, Japan Spotlight, and on the Atlantic.com and CNN.com webpages
He resides in Boardman, Ohio with his wife Susan and their two daughters.
