Department of Physical Therapy
Program Overview
The Department of Physical Therapy offers an entry-level Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program. Students interested in physical therapy as a profession need to choose and complete a non-physical therapy bachelor’s degree to prepare for admission to the professional program. YSU majors with Pre-PT tracks are Biology, Exercise Science, Psychology and General Studies. Applications to the program should be submitted during the application period specified on PTCAS. This typically is during the Summer or Fall semester of the final year of undergraduate coursework. All prerequisite courses must be completed (with a C or better) prior to the start of the program. Additionally, undergraduate degree requirements must be completed prior to the start of the program. The DPT program begins each Summer and consists of three years of rigorous full-time courses and clinical education experiences. It is recommended that employment during this time be limited to a minimum number of hours. The University Office of Financial Aid will provide information for student financial asisstance.
