Tim Francisco, a former newspaper reporter and editor, holds his doctorate in English and also teaches literature courses in the Youngstown State University English Department.
Francisco, who routinely teaches magazine reporting and writing, helped found The Yo, the YSU campus magazine. Francisco is co-director of the Youngstown State University news service and has led journalism field reporting trips to Sago, W.Va. and Allentown, Pa.
Francisco holds an undergraduate degree in English/Journalism and a master’s degree in English from Western Connecticut State University. He earned his PH.D in English from the University of Alabama. At Youngstown State, he teaches Advanced Reporting and Writing, Editorial and Opinion Writing, Magazine Writing and American Journalism.
Before earning his graduate degrees, Francisco worked as a newspaper reporter and magazine writer, specifically covering international banking, foreign trade and banking and Federal Reserve Board policy.
He has served as faculty adviser to the Youngstown State student newspaper, The Jambar, and is faculty adviser for the university’s chapter of the Society of Black Journalists. He is also a faculty affiliate of the YSU Center for Working Class Studies.
