MINORITY EMERGENCY LOAN PROGRAM
The Minority Emergency Loan Program, established through the YSU Foundation, is a fund that provides monies to help minority students with unexpected emergencies. Students may apply for up to $200 in emergency aid. There is no processing fee involved. These monies may not be used for tuition. Students who apply for this loan must be in good academic standing with the University. Loans are made for a maximum of 60 days. If students fail to repay the loan, the account will be given to a collection agency and those students will be ineligible for any future loans. You can secure an application in the Office of Student Diversity Programs.
The Director of Student Diversity must approve the application for the loan.
MINORITY WORK EXPERIENCE PROGRAM
The Minority Work Experience Program is funded by the YSU Foundation to provide monies to foster student employment opportunities.
Campus offices and departments are encouraged to participate in this program by providing a student employment opportunity for between 5-11 hours per week for 10 weeks per semester. Each position offered must have a faculty or staff person willing to mentor the participant during the length of the program. All paperwork must be processed through the Office of Student Diversity Programs.
Students are eligible if they are currently enrolled and in good academic standing with a minimum GPA of 2.3 and are willing to participate in supportive programs and services offered by the University.
