About the Program and its Options:

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering offers coursework leading to the Bachelor of Engineering degree with a major in electrical engineering. Three different options are available. Also, a co-op program is available to students in any of the options, and has reasonably flexible scheduling, but there are restrictions.

Students entering the Electrical and Computer Engineering program will follow the information on this page.  Those already in the program before Summer of 2012 may go to this link for the pre-2012 program and its documents.

The Traditional Option has 55 semester hours of core electrical engineering, 9 hours of other engineering, 18 hours math, 15 hours science, 9 hours of writing and speech, and 18 hours general education courses for a total of 124 semester hours.

The Computer/Digital Option has 43 semester hours of core electrical engineering courses, 9 hours of other engineering, 19 hours computer engineering and computer science courses, 18 hours math, 15 hours science, 9 hours of writing and speech, and 18 hours general education courses for a total of 131 semester hours.

The Biomedical Option has 43 semester hours of core electrical engineering courses, 9 hours of other engineering, 18 hours of math, 32 hours of science including biology and organic chemistry, 9 hours of writing and speech, and 18 hours of general education courses for a total of 129 semester hours.

Required Grades for Program Completion

YSU requires that all grades in the major must be “C” or better.  (See the YSU Undergraduate Bulletin, 2012-2013, p46.)  In the Electrical Engineering program, courses in the major are all engineering, mathematics, and science courses which count for the completion of the degree.

For further information on options and requirements, contact the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
