Best Wishes to Jeff Carroll
Physics and Astronomy

The Department of Physics & Astronomy says farewell and best wishes to Dr. James J. Carroll, who has left YSU to join the Army Research Laboratory in Adelphi, MD. He will create a research group to continue the work of the YSU Isomer Project, which closes with his departure. Jeff leaves a legacy that includes:
- Extensive undergraduate student participation in cutting-edge research in nuclear physics, at YSU’s own X-ray Effects Laboratory (XEL), and at national and international facilities;
- Undergraduate student inclusion as co-authors in numerous peer-reviewed publications, including in Physical Review Letters;
- Publication of more than sixty peer-reviewed articles in nuclear physics, including three in Physical Review Letters and two in Physics Letters;
- Plenary and Invited presentations around the world; and
- More than $4M in competitive grants received on a single-investigator basis, the most ever by a YSU faculty member.
His YSU email will continue to be active during the transition.
Best of luck to Jeff, his wife Dianne, and their daughters.
