Hebrew Classes
Both Hebrew 2600 and Hebrew 2605 can be applied to the Judaic Studies Minor
Hebrew 1550: Elementary Hebrew
This course introduces the basics of Modern Hebrew. Students will learn the Hebrew alphabet, the writing system (print and cursive), the sound system, simple language constructions, elementary grammar and a basic conversational vocabulary. In addition, students will gain basic knowledge and appreciation for the culture and daily life of Hebrew speaking society. Students will receive four credit hours for this course.
Hebrew 2600: Intermediate Hebrew
In this class, students will expand their Hebrew comprehension including increasing vocabulary, practicing conversational Hebrew and increasing their ability to read the language. Prerequisites: HEBREW 1550 or by permission of the instructor.
Hebrew 2605: Advanced Intermediate Hebrew
In this class, students will read major biblical texts in Hebrew - using their basic knowledge of Hebrew grammar to understand this and other Biblical narratives. Prerequisites: HEBREW 2600 or by permission of the instructor.
