Our Program Educational Objectives describe long-term accomplishments for which we seek to prepare the graduates of Youngstown State University mechanical engineering program. It is expected that progress toward these objectives is measurable within three to five years of graduation.
These objectives are based on the needs of the program’s major constituencies, which include the current program students, the program alumni, and the employers of our graduates. As such, the current objectives were initially developed in spring 2012 after compiling input obtained through meetings, interviews, and surveys from our constituencies. The objectives were then iteratively reviewed and modified by the entire Mechanical Engineering faculty and the Industrial Advisory Board until final approval was obtained from both groups in May 2012.
Feedback from our constituents is an integral part of the review and revision of these objectives. As such they are reviewed extensively by the faculty and advisory board every third year after receiving updated input from our students, alumni, and employers of graduates.
