The YSU Counseling Program has a CACREP accredited program, seven full-time award winning faculty, community counseling clinic, nationally ranked student run counseling honor society, and a 40+ year reputation in the community for excellence in training professional counselors.
According to the 2010-2011 Occupational Outlook Handbook, employment for counseling is expected to grow faster than the average and job opportunities are expected to exceed the number of graduates; Clinical Mental Health Counselors (25% growth); Addiction Counselors (21% growth); School / College Counselors (14% growth); and all other Counselors (13% growth).
The U.S. Census Bureau (2000) found that individuals who obtain a master’s degree tend to make on average 10k more each year than an individual with a bachelors degree, and over a lifetime earn $400,000 more with a master’s degree.
